Chernivtsioblenergo is the second-smallest energy distributor in Ukraine servicing Chernivtsi region (8,100 km2; pop.: 922,000). It owns a 16,876-km low-voltage transmission grid, with 1,463 MWA transformer capacity, and serves 333,000 customers, including 1,300 industrial clients. Chernivtsioblenergo posts some of the highest energy losses in the sector: 28.3% in 2006 (down 6.1pp y-o-y but 7.8pp higher than the NERC-approved limit). The company’s largest clients include the Chernivtsi water utility company, the Chernivtsi Machine-Building Plant and the Bukovynka confectioner.
